As we reported, recently, the owner of one of Vietnam’s most valuable League of Legends accounts, often known by the nickname “Beer,” unexpectedly announced that he was selling his account and quitting the game due to losing his in-game name.
The reason was that after a long period of inactivity, the IGN of this account was deactivated, and when he logged back in, the account owner was forced to change to a new IGN. Coincidentally, during that time, the name Beer was taken by another gamer, so the owner of this account was unable to reclaim his old name.
Frustrated by losing a nickname he had been attached to in League of Legends for nearly a decade, he announced he was quitting the game and put his account, which included all items such as skins, chromas, emotes, and pets, up for sale.

However, not long after, this gamer posted another message announcing that he had “canceled the quit” and retracted his announcement of quitting the game. The reason was that the IGN Beer had been returned to its original owner.
After posting the account for sale, information about this gamer losing his in-game name was widely shared by the gaming community, aiming to help him find the current owner of the IGN “Beer.”
Subsequently, the gamer who currently held the name “Beer” revealed himself and quickly agreed to return the nickname to its original owner.
In this post, the owner of the super account also mentioned that there was a gamer who asked to buy the account for 300 million VND, but since he had reclaimed his in-game name, this transaction had to be put on hold.

As for the gamer who returned the name Beer, he explained that using the IGN Beer was purely coincidental; initially, when he bought the name change card, he intended to name it Bear, but it was already taken, so he altered it to Beer as the two words sound quite similar.
Additionally, this gamer shared that the price the former owner of the IGN Beer suggested to reclaim the name was “consider it as him treating me to a cup of Dubai coffee (the ‘gold-plated’ coffee valued at over 500,000 VND per cup).”
Although he didn’t reveal the exact amount, it doesn’t really matter, as both sides expressed a friendly attitude, “a fair trade,” one party wanting to reclaim a familiar IGN, while the other was willing to return the nickname, so it’s reasonable to spend a little extra to support the name change, benefiting both parties.

Immediately after the announcement from the owner of the IGN Beer, the gaming community enthusiastically sent their congratulations to him after the story found a happy ending. As a prominent figure with significant contributions to the community, the retirement announcement of this veteran gamer was truly a considerable loss, so even though reclaiming the IGN and retracting his retirement and account sale is an act of “cancelling the quit,” no one felt bothered by it at all.
