Since its launch, Teamfight Tactics has truly taken the gaming community by storm, developing rapidly and reaching a level somewhat comparable to League of Legends with its own ranking system and a complex champion and trait system. However, the one thing that players have been dissatisfied with regarding Teamfight Tactics’ rank is the “meager” rewards, where a few emotes hardly justify the effort put in to reach Diamond, Master, or Challenger…

Riot Games has received a lot of feedback like this, so they have decided to revamp the ranking system for Teamfight Tactics in the near future, specifically in the mid-season major update – patch 10.12. First, the structure of a season will be reworked; instead of being continuous like seasons 1 and 2, from season 3 onwards, each season will be divided into 2 phases, each with its own event tickets and separate ranked rewards. When moving into phase 2, your rank will be lightly reset and drop by one tier (for example, from Gold 3 to Silver 3).

In season 3, phase 2 will begin in patch 10.12, at which point you will receive the ranked rewards for season 1, season 2, and phase 1 of season 3. Rewards for players who achieve Gold rank or higher in both season 1 and season 2 will be the Glory Chosen Beast at the time of patch 10.12’s release. In the future, you will receive emote rewards at the end of each phase, and if you achieve Gold rank in both phases, you will receive the Glory Chosen Beast at the end of the season.

Not only are there ranked rewards, but phase 2 of season 3 will also come with an entirely new Event Ticket featuring a host of exciting rewards such as new arena skins, force powers, emotes, and new Chosen Beasts. It’s very likely we will see the Celestial Tidecaller and Chosen Mole version of Star Guardian as rewards for this new Event Ticket, similar to the current UFO Tidecaller or Astronaut Mole.

The final noteworthy update that Riot teased in the article is that they will be adding many new champions and traits to the game, while also removing some current champions and traits. Overall, at this point, all champions in Teamfight Tactics, as well as traits, have a specific place in the game; there is nothing that is considered “useless” or completely overlooked.
Therefore, it is highly likely that Riot Games will remove champions and traits that are too powerful and create a playstyle that is too negative for the game, which they cannot rework or adjust. Unfortunately, it must be said that the Pilot is the primary target in this “purge” by Riot Games. Riot Mortdog, the lead designer of Teamfight Tactics, also admitted that the entire development team is not satisfied at all with the current state of this trait.
