As we know, top Vietnamese AoE player Hưng “Nhổn”, also known by another name Gunny is the husband of Nguyễn Thị Hương Ly, also known in the AoE community as Mrs. Hương Ly. This girl has just been implicated in a gambling ring worth 20 trillion VND.
According to the newspaper Công An Nhân Dân, Colonel Vũ Văn Đấu, head of the High-tech Crime Investigation Department, revealed that through operational work, a group of individuals was discovered regularly organizing gambling and betting online on a large scale, with many participants across various provinces and cities, and the amount of money used for betting through transactions in the personal accounts of individuals at banks reaching billions of VND.
Due to the serious nature of the case, on May 6, the investigative police agency issued an emergency arrest warrant for 13 individuals, including Nguyễn Thị Hương Ly, born in 1993, who is believed to be the mastermind behind this operation.
At the police station, the suspects confessed that Nguyễn Thị Hương Ly registered an agent account under the name Mrs. Hương Ly (later changed to Mrs. Vymit) on the gaming site to buy and sell game points with online gamblers.
Initially, while starting operations, Hương Ly directly used her personal bank accounts to conduct transactions for buying and selling game points with gamblers. Later, Hương Ly used accounts registered under names such as Trần Khánh Linh, Hoàng Ngọc Ly, Hoàng Việt Hưng, and Phạm Ngọc Tuấn to open bank accounts for transferring and receiving money for buying and selling game points with gamblers.
At the same time, she assigned individuals Linh, Ngọc Ly, and Tuấn to manage and use the hotline number of the agency to conduct game point transactions. In April 2020, Hương Ly, along with Lượng from Hanoi, moved to Ho Chi Minh City to rent a location for Tuấn, Long, Phương, and Chính to work on buying and selling game points under Hương Ly’s agency account.
According to investigators, the amount of illicit profit Hương Ly earned monthly could reach tens of billions of VND. The seriousness of this gambling ring is comparable to that of Mr. Phí Văn Huấn, who was recently taken down by the police a few months ago.
Additionally, Du was hired by Mạnh to manage the hotline number for Đức Mạnh agency and oversee the agency account to transfer points to gamblers. The Đức Mạnh agency used accounts registered under Nguyễn Đức Mạnh, Nguyễn Văn An, and Nguyễn Khắc Du at banks to transfer and receive money for buying and selling game points with gamblers. Working with Du at Đức Mạnh agency were also Dương, Đạt, and Chiến.
Meanwhile, the suspects Tân, Tứ, Nguyên, Hưng, Hiếu, Hà, and Giang had registered member accounts on the game to bet on tài – xỉu and used personal bank accounts to transfer and receive money for buying and selling game points with accounts representing Đức Mạnh agency and Hương Ly agency. Each time accessing the accounts, the suspects used from 5 million VND or more to gamble… The total amount of transactions through bank accounts between gamblers and the game from January 2019 to now is approximately 20 trillion VND.
