G2 Esports is known for its penchant for making outrageous moves in the world of League of Legends, always operating the game in their own unique way and doing things that no one else would. Perhaps no other team has ever recruited a mid-laner from a rival team and pushed their current mid-laner down to play ADC. Yet, G2 Esports did just that, and even succeeded, with the duo of Caps and Perkz becoming incredibly close as a result.

Just a few days ago, G2 Esports even announced that their top laner – Wunder would be moving to support, as he plays Janna and Soraka top so well, while Mikyx would be pushed up to top lane. When this information came out, everyone was half-believing, half-doubting because role swaps aren’t something new for G2, but such an unreasonable lane swap is hard to believe.
However, the unpredictable move from G2 Esports that made us laugh at its absurdity is the announcement that Jankos will be stepping up as head coach. Meanwhile, the current coach Grabbz will switch to jungle, and G2 Esports even introduced this coach as someone who can master meta jungle champions like Sejuani and… Braum, and is a key player for them to win the upcoming LEC Spring.

Previous changes such as Caps and Perkz swapping roles, Mikyx moving to top, and Wunder to support can be somewhat believable because there was some basis for it. However, this decision makes us think this is a “strong comedic act” from G2 Esports since they would never push a player who is performing well and consistently into a coaching role. Meanwhile, a seasoned coach like Grabbz can’t just be told to jump into the jungle immediately.

In G2 Esports’ media videos and mic checks, the one who often reacts and “throws shade” at the coach’s draft picks the most is Jankos. Who knows, maybe this “Vietnamese son abroad” wants to prove that he can draft better than coach Grabbz? Hopefully not!
