One of the key factors contributing to the growth of Teamfight Tactics is that the designers at Riot Games frequently interact with and gather community feedback about their game. Two prominent figures, Riot Mortdog, the lead designer, and Riot Wittrock, the season designer for Teamfight Tactics, are among the most active on Reddit. They even often “tease” major updates here.

Specifically, in an AMA post by the top North American Challenger player – MismatchedSocks, Riot Wittrock hinted at the possibility of bringing back the trait-system change similar to Lux from Season 2. In addition, this top-tier player shared a lot of valuable rank climbing experiences and tips on team compositions and item selections for the Teamfight Tactics community.

Riot Wittrock: “Do you see any opportunities to further upgrade the design in upcoming seasons? (champions, traits, themes, mechanics of that season…)”.
MismatchedSock: “I really liked the design of Lux in Season 2 with the Reincarnation trait, I hope this will return.”
Riot Wittrock: “Noted!”.
With the acknowledgment that Lux from Season 2 with the Reincarnation trait was an outstanding design, it is highly likely that Riot Games will bring this mechanism back to Teamfight Tactics. Of course, in this Season 3, the number of champions as well as the game’s mechanics are already complete, and even the mid-season updates have been finalized, so if there are any changes, they will only occur in future seasons.

Let’s take a look at some of the useful insights shared by the top Challenger player:

Question: Do you think there are any champions/traits or strategies that have not been fully explored? For example, Jarvan IV, which Riot Mortdog mentioned has the highest win rate, is often underestimated even when the Xayah composition is meta. Do you think there are any other strong strategies that are yet to be discovered?
MismatchedSock: I’m pretty sure Soraka is a very strong champion but not many people notice, everyone keeps using Lulu and Karma instead of Soraka. Xerath is the same but people think Kayle is stronger. Ekko is also a potential carry (not too strong but playable). In summary, I’m not entirely sure and think that most strong strategies have already been discovered.

Question: What type of player do you fear facing the most?
MismatchedSock: One-trick players who reroll a specific composition (similar to one-champ players in League of Legends). Players like this really make me nervous when I encounter them.

Question: Which composition do you think is currently the strongest? Are there any tricks to rank up? I try to play as flexibly as possible but it feels hit or miss, sometimes I end up high and other times I’m 8th.
MismatchedSock: I think playing flexibly in the early game is the best. This means you need to have a strong early game composition and keep your health high. When you have a strong carry like Kayle/Jinx/Xerath/Irelia or Jhin, build items for that champion. Sometimes you might go for Gangplank/Miss Fortune/Thresh/Ekko, but those champions are weaker when chosen as carries. For reroll compositions: Shredder/Void/Ziggs are currently quite strong.

Hopefully, with these useful insights shared above, Teamfight Tactics players will have a much quicker rank climbing journey in the upcoming time.
