Last weekend, Riot Games released a video lasting about 2 minutes to summarize all the latest updates from the mid-season patch of Teamfight Tactics. As previously confirmed, the removed traits and origins from the game include Celestial and Void, while Astronaut and Mecha will be added.

In addition to introducing gameplay and new units, Riot Games also mentioned that in the upcoming update, the rank of all players will be reset. However, whether it was an accidental or intentional mistake, or simply reused footage from the beginning of Season 3, the announcement stated that all ranks would revert to Iron, and everyone would have to climb ranks from scratch.

This confusion has “scammed” many players and left them anxious about being demoted to Iron rank and having to climb from the beginning. However, in reality, your rank will not be reset as drastically as that, and Riot Games has confirmed this, serving as a correction to their mistaken announcement.

Riot Games: “We may have overdone it in the announcement video about resetting ranks. To clarify, in patch 10.12, the rank reset will only drop you one rank compared to your current rank (for example: Gold 1 will drop to Silver 1).”
Alongside the usual ranks, another note from the developers of Teamfight Tactics is that all players currently above Diamond rank (from Master and above) will revert to Diamond 4 after the mid-season update. These changes in the mid-season update are considered acceptable as they are sufficient to encourage players to try hard to regain their old ranks while also giving them time to adjust to the new meta.

The mid-season update of Teamfight Tactics is expected to be deployed in version 10.12 (on June 10, according to US time). The addition of many new units, traits, and origins promises to open up many strong and interesting team compositions instead of a meta revolving around just a few strong units as it is now.
