Lily’s move regarding SofM has sent the VCS community into a frenzy
The year 2025 can be described as a highly eventful year for professional League of Legends. Coincidentally, two of the most veteran jungle players in the world, Levi and Peanut, have both announced their retirements. This is a significant loss as we will no longer witness these “old veterans” in action next season. In this context, recently, Lily – SofM’s representative, unexpectedly made a “strange” move in the middle of the night.

Accordingly, Lily unexpectedly posted a screenshot of an album featuring photos throughout SofM’s career, from when he played for Snake Esports to becoming the runner-up at the World Championship with Suning. Of course, there are still many photos after that, but just posting a snippet was enough to make the VCS community buzz.

On some forums, when the photo was leaked, many viewers suggested that this could be a hint at SofM’s return to professional play. Recently, SofM also updated to remove his head coach role at MVKE on the Global Contract Database. However, on the other hand, some voices argue that this might be SofM reminiscing about his player days, potentially signaling retirement.
After all, SofM has been away from competitive play for long enough that his skills might not match his prime. If he plays in the LCP, it would be hard for any team to take him except MVKE. The chances of going abroad are even lower, considering that League of Legends is consolidating around major regions right now. Therefore, between the two possibilities, the likelihood of SofM retiring seems higher.

If SofM retires, it will be a regrettable but understandable departure
One truth remains: since leaving WBG to return to the VCS, SofM has never officially announced his retirement. Therefore, if he chooses this moment, it will be another loss for the professional League of Legends community. However, it is a reasonable decision, as SofM is no longer young and has been away from the player role for too long.
