Nexus Blitz is one of the most exciting game modes ever created by Riot Games, packed with numerous items, features, and special in-game events. We surely remember those intense “boogie runs”, thrilling 1v1 matches, or the excitement of watching two Nexus towers suddenly come to life and clash.

The removal of this mode left players feeling quite nostalgic, as it met most gamers’ demands for entertainment, a certain level of competitiveness, and many unique experiences. Therefore, when Riot Games announced they would bring back special modes alongside major events in League of Legends in 2020, many players mentioned Nexus Blitz.
Players won’t have to wait much longer as this mode has been spotted on the PBE server. Specifically, Riot Games updated the PBE server just a few hours ago, and among the new files added to the game, a plethora of new tower and minion images were discovered, even a new Nexus Blitz map themed around Ionia, indicating that this mode is very close to us.

Overview of the new map

With patch 10.13 set to be introduced to the official server, we can understand that new updates like skins, balance adjustments, or the Nexus Blitz mode are all part of the testing for patch 10.14. As Riot has announced earlier this year, they only bring special modes into the game when they accompany a major event in League of Legends.

Combined with previously revealed information, two new champions are set to appear in the Summer event, allowing us to guess that the timing for this major event will be around patch 10.14. Of course, Riot Games may delay the release of champions if they haven’t tested them enough. In summary, patch 10.14 will mark a series of significant events in League of Legends with plenty of fresh content like the return of Nexus Blitz, new champions, and new skins…

Hopefully, the upcoming new champions from Riot Games will be somewhat balanced and provide an interesting gameplay experience, rather than being overly complicated and unbalanced like Aphelios, who was released during last year’s Duel event.
