Chovy’s Remarks on LCK Award Ignite Controversy
Recently, the LCK region held its collective and individual awards after a tumultuous season filled with ups and downs for the teams. As expected, T1, with their championship win at Worlds 2025, was named Team of the Year. Meanwhile, the LCK Player of the Year award went to Bdd, while Chovy received the most prestigious individual accolade of the LCK this year: Player of the Year.

However, 2025 continues to be an incomplete year for Chovy as he could not lead Gen.G to victory at Worlds. Therefore, in a clip sharing about the award he just received, Chovy stated: “I’m not sure if I truly deserve this award. But being honored also gives me more motivation and responsibility to strive harder for better results next season. Thank you.”
Yet, what seemed to be a humble statement from Chovy sparked some controversy. Most opinions affirmed that the superstar from Gen.G fully deserved the title. However, there were sporadic comments reflecting that he failed at the most important tournament, which raises doubts about the validity of him receiving the Player of the Year award.

The Award for Chovy is Indeed Justified
However, it goes without saying that awarding Chovy should not be up for debate. Even though he didn’t win Worlds 2025, the entire season showed a Chovy who always knew how to shine, with three consecutive major titles as clear evidence. Of course, the Worlds championship remains a regret for Chovy, but that does not negate his efforts as a player.

At the same time, each defeat is a lesson. And it’s very likely that Gen.G in 2026 will be even more formidable, as they maintain their lineup and the players are highly motivated to seek “revenge.”
