Cultists
Despite the addition of 2 new champions, Vladimir and Sivir, the Cultist trait is about to face severe nerfs. Specifically, Galio’s health and base damage will see further reductions in the upcoming patch, while his interaction stats with champion levels will increase. This means that Galio needs to reach 6 or 9 champions to be truly powerful. At 3 champions, Galio is only slightly stronger than standard 2-cost units.
Remember that the strength of Cultists comes from Galio having superior stats compared to regular units. Therefore, a Cultist team can snowball very effectively once it gains an early advantage. Nerfing Galio like this will significantly weaken Cultists early on, making it difficult for them to compete against other compositions by the late game.
Forest Spirits
It’s no exaggeration to say that new champions like Xayah, Rakan, and Ornn will gradually push the Forest Spirits trait into obscurity. In the upcoming mid-season update, Forest Spirits will be nerfed in terms of the additional armor/magic resistance gained per second at the important thresholds of 3 and 6 champions. This will make Forest Spirit units no longer as “tanky” as they are currently. Therefore, this trait will no longer be overly dominant compared to the others.
Furthermore, Xayah, Rakan, and Ornn are considered extremely strong champions with a significant power gap compared to the remaining Forest Spirit units. Similar to the current situation with Ahri and Jhin, players are likely to only use the aforementioned units without paying much attention to the Forest Spirits trait. When the defensive effect is no longer overwhelmingly superior, and with such a significant competition for damage and versatility, it’s understandable that the Forest Spirits composition may “fade away” from the upcoming meta.
5-Cost Champions
Just with two brief updates reducing the appearance rate of 5-cost champions at levels 8 and 9, this composition has become significantly weaker. This change will greatly diminish the quality of 5-cost team compositions at the end of the game. Even with superior effects and unit quality, the power gap between 1-star and 2-star champions remains too large. If you cannot upgrade your 5-cost champions to 2-stars, they are easily defeated.
Another reason for the decline of 5-cost compositions is the removal of Kayn in the upcoming mid-season update. This champion is too powerful individually and can deal damage extremely well, especially in a “mishmash” team composition like the 5-cost setup. Meanwhile, the two new 5-cost champions, Samira and Ornn, rely heavily on existing team compositions. This is likely to eliminate the strategy of quickly pushing to level 9 and rolling for 5-cost champions in the upcoming TFT Season 4.5.
