Launched on September 21, 2020, Samira has been an extremely dominant champion in League of Legends. The fact that Samira consistently ranks among the most banned champions in League of Legends is more than enough to prove this point. Some even jokingly refer to Samira as the “300-year” champion created by Riot, implying that her level of “brokenness” surpasses even that of Aphelios at his peak.
Not only dominant in the traditional 5v5 mode, this champion is also incredibly “broken” upon entering Teamfight Tactics. Specifically, yesterday – January 6, when Teamfight Tactics Season 4.5 landed on the PBE server, Samira immediately began to dominate this “automated chess” mode. It has become very common to see around 4 players using Samira in a single match on the PBE server.
The reason for this dominance lies in the tribe – system of Samira, which is too perfect. If you arrange cleverly, Samira can dodge most Assassin champions with the dash effect from the Daredevil tribe. In terms of damage, the combo of Marksman – Butcher allows Samira to output an excessive amount of damage. Samira can even obliterate the opponent’s formation with just a Guardian Angel.
Not stopping there, the accompanying effects of the Inferno Duel skill are also incredibly strong. While dashing, she cannot be interrupted, and when using her skill, Samira gains an additional 100% evasion rate. This means that to take down Samira, you must have a sufficiently strong Mage composition. Clearly, it’s impossible for all 7 other players in the match to have such a lineup.
Because of her “broken” nature, Samira forces players to use her if they want to win. Moreover, her overwhelming popularity means that even players who do not want to play her must buy this unit in the late game. This is to limit the opponent’s ability to upgrade Samira to higher levels or reduce the chances of other players obtaining this champion.
Furthermore, Samira is not picky about items at all. As long as the item is built from a B.F. Sword, Samira can utilize it effectively. Samira can even make use of items that seem unrelated to physical damage, like the Guardian’s Gauntlet, Thornmail, or Stone Guardian… Therefore, Samira always showcases her power regardless of the team composition or whether she is purchased early or late.
Good news for Teamfight Tactics players is that Samira on the PBE server was nerfed this morning. However, her popularity remains excessively high as Riot’s adjustments have not been substantial. Therefore, we can hope that Riot will continue to nerf Samira in the near future and her official version will no longer be as “broken” as it is now.
