Before we discuss Bloodthirster, let’s recap the characteristics of the recent updates for Riot’s “national game.” In League of Legends, even a small but effective adjustment can significantly impact many prevailing metas. A prime example is the buffing of some long-forgotten champions, which immediately turned them into hot picks while also making them more versatile than before. Notably, the Enlightened One – Karma.

Here are Karma’s new stats after Riot’s adjustments:
– Mana regeneration increased from 11.5 to 13.
– Q – Inner Fire: Energy cost reduced from 65 to 55.
With these changes, Karma is becoming more useful in various roles rather than just as a Support or Mid-lane champion while still fulfilling a supportive role. In Patch 11.3, Karma will be able to poke more with her Q – Inner Fire without worrying about energy depletion.
In this patch, the item Chemtech Purifier is highly favored for Karma. It provides healing, creates shields, but the most important feature that makes Chemtech Purifier help Karma “rise above” is inflicting 60% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds.

It must be emphasized that Chemtech Purifier is typically not as favored as Morello’s Evil Tome, which has a similar effect but deals more damage (dealing magic damage applies 40% Grievous Wounds on enemy champions for 2 seconds. If the target is below 50% health, this effect increases to 60% Grievous Wounds). However, it’s important to note that Morello’s Tome is most effective when the enemy is below 50% health, while Chemtech Purifier only requires the opponent to be stationary. Currently, in the meta, champions with hard crowd control are highly favored, and nearly all of them can keep the enemy in place.
Returning to the “core item” for many champions in League of Legends today – Bloodthirster. This item is widely used, with its first and most important strength being the extremely powerful lifesteal it provides. Just this feature alone makes Bloodthirster the “core item” for bruisers in the top lane or squishy ADCs. Not to mention, the component Thorned Steel helps increase farming speed, which is particularly great when the team composition has weaker champions or is being heavily ganked by the enemy, leading to being out-farmed.

Although in the upcoming Patch 11.3, many predict that Bloodthirster may be “discarded” due to its healing based on lost health being nerfed from 12% to 8%. Together with adjustments in Patch 11.1 making this item significantly weaker than during the Pre-Season, in reality, with the item Chemtech Purifier, gamers may not need Riot’s adjustments to mitigate the overwhelming power of Bloodthirster.
