LoL: The 5 Hottest Mid Lane Champions in Patch 11.4

Patch 11.4 has seen numerous changes that have shifted the meta, bringing some champions back into the spotlight.

Ryze

In patches prior to 11.3, Ryze was one of the most regrettable absences with a very low win rate (45.79%) and was only picked twice in the LCK Spring 2021.

The buff to Everfrost has given the Rune Mage a chance to make a comeback. In reality, Ryze still cannot be considered a hot pick at this moment, however, this champion has improved his win rate since the release of patch 11.4 (51.5%). Almost all players, including professional players, are choosing Everfrost for Ryze.

With the Rune Mage becoming stronger again, many hope that Faker will also have more opportunities to shine since, after all, the two champions that are considered iconic alongside the Demon King are Ryze and LeBlanc.

Viego

Viego has not yet entered the professional League of Legends scene despite being introduced in patch 11.2, but that’s okay, the Ruined King is still “thriving” in normal games and ranked matches. Moreover, since patch 11.4 was released, Viego has become even stronger, especially in the mid lane.

His powerful skill set can sometimes confuse opponents but still ensures Viego’s ability to dominate foes in the mid lane and roam gank across the map. With good poke and approach capabilities, Viego can completely overpower the strength of mid lane mages. As for matchups against fighters, Viego will “kite” his opponents to death.

Viktor

Viktor has been making a comeback more frequently even without waiting for patch 11.4. Just considering professional tournaments, this champion has been regularly used across LCK, LPL, VCS, and LEC…

The large cooldown reduction from the Cosmic Drive item is essential for champions like Viktor who rely heavily on their abilities. Additionally, Viktor’s wave clear ability is quite formidable as he can upgrade his Tech Core. However, Viktor is truly powerful only when he has a favorable laning phase. Despite having wave clear potential, Viktor’s ability animations are relatively easy to dodge, and if he gets burst down too quickly, his Chaos Storm won’t have a chance to shine.

Seraphine

Since her release, Seraphine may have been disliked by some, but she is definitely proving to be extremely useful. Not just in the mid lane but also as a support and even as an ADC. Of course, as a mage, Seraphine can maximize her power only in the mid lane when she reaches the necessary levels early.

Players can choose Liandry’s Anguish as a Mythic item and then build Cosmic Drive to grant Seraphine 85 ability haste. This helps Seraphine easily activate her passive and increases her poke capability. Moreover, her strength lies in her ability to cover teammates. In other words, Seraphine is a versatile champion; when damage is needed, she can provide damage, and when protection is needed, she can also offer support.

Yone

The buff to the Shieldbow item in patch 11.3 has enabled a range of champions to become “dominant,” with Samira being the first and Yone following closely. In the mid lane, Yone with his mobile and effective poke abilities completely has the upper hand against mages or even ADCs brought to the mid lane.

Although currently, Yone is rarely seen in professional tournaments despite the Shieldbow still being strong, it’s hard to predict anything and it is very likely that starting from patch 11.4, the brother of the “Nation’s Champion” Yasuo will truly return to the Summoner’s Rift.
