If we had to point out the “most unfortunate” job at Riot Games, it would probably be the position of champion designer and balancer. While the media team and tournament organizers of the creator of League of Legends always receive enthusiastic praise from the gaming community for their “top-notch” products and events, the game balancing team is completely the opposite, “constantly getting criticized until it becomes routine.”
Of course, no one wants to be criticized, and the League of Legends design team always strives to maintain the balance of power in the game at an “acceptable” level. But life rarely goes as planned, and the ongoing bugs in League of Legends not only frustrate the gaming community but also leave Riot employees feeling disheartened. The latest name to go from being a “creation” to a “foe” of the balance team is none other than Viego.

Since his release, Viego has caused over 100 bugs of various sizes in League of Legends, and of course, the one who bears the greatest responsibility is his “creator” – Riot August. The genius designer at Riot is also responsible for creating other champions like Ekko, Jinx, Vi, Senna, Gnar, Jhin, and Kayle, and he was the lead balance designer for Teamfight Tactics Season 1.
However, it seems that the creation and subsequent “adjustment” of Viego – a champion with an incredibly unique gameplay style that is beyond Riot’s control – has genuinely made August “depressed.” Recently, this designer made the gaming community “laugh out loud” when he shared images from the past year.
From March 2020 to March 2021, August’s hair has… completely vanished, replaced by a bushy beard. From an image of a nerdy IT engineer, August is now perceived as looking no different from an… uncle.

Of course, August’s images on Twitter mainly serve to “self-deprecate.” Even though he has lost his hair due to… baldness, when cleaned up, he still looks quite handsome. However, the fact that August and some other Riot employees have to work so hard to the point of going bald remains a hot topic of discussion among netizens.
The name brought out as a “scapegoat,” held fully responsible for August’s “hair loss” is none other than Vandiril – a YouTuber famous for his talent in “spotting bugs” in League of Legends.

Vandiril is the one who has discovered half of Viego’s bugs, and of course, August and his colleagues have to… scramble to fix all the game issues that this YouTuber has pointed out. Therefore, saying that Vandiril is the reason August has lost his hair is not unjust at all.
