For many players, Jarvan IV is a quality jungle champion with a full array of crowd control effects such as knock-ups, slows, and terrain creation. However, since he often has to take on the role of engaging in team fights, players of Jarvan IV typically opt for Zhonya’s Hourglass to preserve their lives if they want to combo E+Q+R in the middle of the enemy team.
Until now, the Western League of Legends community has discovered a new combo for Jarvan, allowing this champion to use Cataclysm (R) in an extremely safe manner. Thus, Jarvan can immobilize enemies while also being able to easily move out of the terrain area.
Specifically, in this new combo, players will activate the Spear of Shattered Hope first and then immediately use the ultimate ability. This combo allows Jarvan’s Cataclysm to possess mechanics similar to Yorick’s Dark Procession, dealing damage and effectively holding enemies without putting himself in danger.
Although this is a widely circulated bug in patch 11.7, many believe it has existed since the preseason began. And even though this bug has become so popular, Riot Games has yet to release a patch to fix it. This leads the gaming community to think this is a mechanic that League of Legends has been integrated by Riot Games.
Therefore, we can reluctantly consider this as a new combo for Jarvan, allowing this champion to immobilize enemies more easily without needing to engage them closely.

Of course, the likelihood of this mechanic being retained by Riot is very slim. The essence of Jarvan IV is that he requires finesse when using his ultimate, so that Cataclysm can hold as many targets as possible without putting his teammates or himself in a “squeeze” situation. The fact that Jarvan IV can enter and exit his ultimate like a free man will clearly create an imbalance for this champion, and sooner or later, it will fall into Riot’s “200-year curse”.
