SofM Rises to Top 13 Korean Challenger, Becomes ‘Duy chị Dậu’ with 18 Consecutive Wins Using Nocturne in Jungle

In less than a week, SofM has surged from outside the top 100 to nearly the top 10 in Korean Challenger rankings.

Just under a week ago, SofM was still enjoying his last days of leisure during the off-season with Suning. However, starting from May 10, he put aside his journey of climbing the ranks in other games to focus on the mission of conquering the Challenger tier on the Korean League of Legends server.

In just a few days, SofM’s 8×8 JG account showed rapid progress, jumping from top 108 to top 23 in the Korean Challenger on May 14, and then continuing to close in on the top 10 in recent days. Within the last 24 hours, SofM successfully entered the top 15, currently sitting at top 13, but the highest position he has achieved is top 11 in the Korean Challenger.

SofM is currently one of the fastest rank climbers in the Korean server, especially as top superstars in this region such as ShowMaker and Canyon are absent (and in fact, these are also familiar rank climbing partners of Duy Cầu Giấy). He boasts a win rate of up to 61%, and particularly has many consecutive win streaks, with one streak lasting as long as 10 games.

However, the most notable point in SofM’s rank climbing process is his frequent and effective use of Nocturne. According to recorded statistics, in the last 7 days, SofM played Nocturne 10 times, just behind Lee Sin and on par with Rumble, but with the highest win rate, achieving 10 wins out of 10 games, a perfect 100% win rate.

Broadening the scope, since the start of the 2021 ranked season, SofM has played Nocturne 21 times, achieving a win rate of 90%, and has a streak of 18 consecutive wins with this champion. And of course, the captain of Suning does not disappoint his fans, as SofM’s Nocturne often builds tank items, a style that is very familiar to the boy from Cầu Giấy, yet never fails to captivate those who enjoy unique and unconventional item builds.

With MSI 2021 still having nearly half a month left until its conclusion, and the rank climbers from DWG KIA being far from returning (unless eliminated early), the possibility of SofM conquering the top 1 in Korean Challenger is entirely possible, especially as he has shown a high level of determination by playing nearly 10 ranked games each day.
