Teamfight Tactics: Not a Good Thing, the Item Cache Might Be a “Double-Edged Sword” for Players

The Item Cache mode could leave players "regretting" if not used wisely.

According to information previously provided by Riot, the Item Cache will be a new mode introduced in Teamfight Tactics season 5 in the 11.5 update. Not just a few component items anymore, the Item Cache will expand further, offering not only component items but also complete items or even Golden Shovel and Neeko’s Help for players to choose from.

At first glance, this seems like an incredibly exciting addition that could help players maximize their power, but is this really the case? First, the Item Cache will appear in round 4-2, which means after players have entered the mid-game phase and the rounds for selecting component items have ended. Typically, at this stage, players would have already established a fixed framework for themselves and constructed a team composition around that playstyle. Next, the 4 items available in the Item Cache will also have certain drop rates, and from a certain perspective, it is just an upgrade from choosing component items from round 3 and earlier.

One final point, this Item Cache will only appear once. Therefore, players will be placed in a situation where they must choose very carefully. Most players will opt for special items like Neeko’s Help or Golden Shovel, but sometimes, these items may cause players to miss out on a potentially more useful choice.

Another factor that could make the Item Cache challenging for players is the element of luck involved. For example, if you are playing a composition that requires damage items, but the Item Cache only provides Shovels, tank items, or random component items, it will be very difficult for players to adapt their team composition because, at this point, it is round 4-2, meaning it is already mid-game, when other players have likely solidified their frameworks and even their carries have all the necessary items.

The Item Cache will be updated in the upcoming patch 11.12, and this addition from Riot may implicitly confirm that Teamfight Tactics is now a game where skill plays a larger role, with luck being a secondary factor. Players must calculate very carefully and prepare thoroughly to choose the most useful items for themselves and secure the final victory, or one mistake could cause all their efforts to go to waste.
