SofM “sorrowfully” shares about VCS after CFO’s journey at First Stand 2025
One of the intriguing highlights of First Stand 2025 is the performance of CBTC Flying Oyster – the representative of the LCP region in the tournament. Although considered the weakest representative, CFO has achieved surprising victories against KC, TL, and especially against the very strong representative from the LPL region, TES. CFO’s victories have excited fans from the LCP region, including VCS. However, SofM has a different perspective.

Specifically, the coach of MGN Vikings Esports remarked: “This season, with the roaming style (which is not CFO’s specialty), it’s already very difficult to win against them. Next season sounds really tough.”
VCS fans also admit SofM was right
In reality, Team SecretWhales’ victory at APAC was a surprise, even up until now. However, according to many fans, at that time CFO might have needed time for the members to get used to each other’s playstyle as well as to adjust to Fearless Draft. At the current First Stand, everything has synced, so CFO has truly reached their power threshold.

Another factor to pay attention to is that CFO has made significant investments, welcoming back players who previously competed in the LPL. Jungler JunJia even played for Edward Gaming during the period when that team dominated the LPL and later won the World Championship. Although he was not registered in Iceland that year, the quality of JunJia cannot be denied.
Meanwhile, the currently strong VCS teams (MVKE, GAM, or TSW) all have certain weaknesses. Among them, GAM was once the “flagship team” but had a forgettable APAC season as VCS champions.

In this context, if VCS teams do not improve, the likelihood of VCS missing out on MSI is very high. But if this scenario actually happens, perhaps the League of Legends community in Vietnam will also have to accept that TALON and CFO are currently too strong compared to the general level in the region.
