Although not competing professionally, Dopa, with his proven reputation and top-tier skills, remains a highly “reputable” name in the Korean League of Legends scene. The statements from the “rent-a-player” sometimes have the power to influence and change public opinion, especially when he shares his views on professional players.
Historically, Dopa – a famously arrogant figure, has rarely regarded professional League of Legends players with high esteem. The few names that this streamer acknowledges as “having real skill” include PawN, Mlxg, Ming, TheShy… Regarding Faker, Dopa only evaluates him as “on par” with himself in terms of personal skill.
However, in a recent stream, this male streamer surprised many by almost admitting for the first time in his life that he falls short against another name – Chovy.

“The only thing preventing Chovy from becoming the number one mid-laner this year is his transition to competing in another game. Among all the opponents I’ve faced in the Korean and Chinese servers, no one compares to Chovy.
Every time I face him, I get the feeling that I truly am a has-been now.”
Dopa admitting his inferiority to another opponent is indeed a rare occurrence, and it showcases the respect this male streamer has for the player currently representing Hanwha Life Esports.
It’s worth mentioning that Dopa’s assessment is somewhat emotional. At the time when Dopa and Faker were compared, both were at the peak of their performance. At that time, Faker was racking up numerous regional and international titles, while climbing to rank 1 on the Korean and Chinese servers was as easy as flipping a coin for Dopa.
Currently, Dopa no longer maintains the same level of excellence as before, so it’s understandable that he feels outclassed by Chovy. Thus, his declaration of Chovy as the strongest among the opponents he has faced in Dopa’s solo queue is somewhat… not entirely convincing.

As for Chovy, his top-tier level is something that most experts agree on. In fact, when compared to ShowMaker, Chovy appears to be even more well-rounded. However, the reason he falls short compared to his peers in terms of titles is that Chovy lacks top-tier teammates.
When he was with Griffin, Chovy made waves during the first three seasons of the LCK, yet this “rookie team” lacked the most crucial factor for winning titles: composure, and a bit of luck. Moving to DragonX and then Hanwha Life, Chovy still bears the responsibility of carrying the team well, but most of his teammates are not top-tier stars. Therefore, even with Dopa’s high praise, Chovy’s chances of achieving a team title remain very low if he continues to stay with HLE.
