Recently, T1 released a fun vlog capturing the team’s picnic – a recreational activity for the entire squad ahead of the LCK Summer 2021. During the picnic, T1 members engaged in various fun activities and outings to relax before entering a tense season.
During this outing, Faker shared a funny story with Teddy while they were discussing T1’s marksman’s driving skills. Previously, Faker adamantly insisted that he didn’t have the guts to sit in a car driven by Teddy. The Demon King also shared that although he owns a car, he still prefers taking the bus for its convenience. However, during one bus ride, Faker faced an ironic situation when… he forgot to bring money.
“Just the other day, I took the bus and forgot my money, I only had 50 won in my pocket. I had to tell the driver: ‘This is all I have.’ Yet, the driver still said, ‘Just get on the bus.'”

He even seemed quite excited about getting the “free bus ride,” leaving many fans laughing. Everyone knows Faker’s frugal lifestyle, but not having enough cash for bus fare might be due to his absent-mindedness, as he typically doesn’t carry too much cash.
Despite owning a car (one was gifted by BMW worth nearly 2 billion won for his birthday), many Korean fans have reported seeing Faker taking the bus home. He even mentioned that he doesn’t like having a car in downtown Seoul.

Faker’s estimated income is said to be around $3 – $5 million a year, including salary, bonuses, and endorsements. However, he has maintained a frugal spending habit since childhood. Nonetheless, the most admirable trait of Faker is that he saves for himself but is very generous in taking care of his family and doing charity work. Most of the money he earned in his early professional years went towards buying a new apartment for his family of four, ensuring that his grandmother, father, and younger brother could enjoy a comfortable life. He also regularly allocates hundreds of millions of won each year for charity, most recently to support South Korea’s COVID-19 relief fund.
Additionally, many fans discussed the kindness of the bus driver. Allowing someone to ride the bus for free is fundamentally against the rules and a loss for the driver, but perhaps due to Faker’s politeness, the driver was willing to show goodwill.
Some fans concluded quite “rationally” that it was because the driver recognized Faker. Even if the driver didn’t know anything about League of Legends, posters featuring Faker’s face are everywhere at… bus stops.
