Recently, the North American League of Legends homepage announced a teaser for the Sentinels of Light event – part of the major event “The Ruination” set to kick off this July. The Sentinels of Light is expected to be the first chapter in a series of narrative events related to Viego and the battle against the Ruination in the Runeterra universe.
Official images for the event have also been revealed, providing us with plenty of information about the new updates in League of Legends, including the introduction of the new marksman champion Akshan.

In the splash art for the Sentinels of Light, notable characters include Viego, Thresh, Senna, Lucian, Gwen, Graves, Vayne, and Akshan. The layout of this artwork clearly indicates that Viego and Thresh represent the Shadow Isles faction, while Senna, Lucian, Graves, Vayne, and Akshan share a similar appearance, suggesting that they might be members of the Sentinels of Light, as described in the League of Legends storyline.
Gwen also appears as an ally of the Sentinels in their fight against Viego. The most notable details of the splash art also hint at some exciting content:
– Graves and Vayne will receive new Sentinels of Light skins: These skins are likely not part of a separate skin universe but based on the timeline of the League of Legends storyline (similar to Young Graves representing his past when he roamed Bilgewater with Young Twisted Fate). In the Sentinels of Light event, it is very likely that Graves and Vayne have joined the Sentinels for some reason. An interesting detail is that all members of the Sentinels of Light are marksman champions, including Akshan.
– New champion Akshan officially revealed: The solo lane marksman with a unique weapon has officially appeared with a complete design. According to some information gathered by the gaming community, Akshan plays a very important role in the Sentinels, and his weapon is also inherited from a predecessor in the organization.

The Sentinels of Light event will officially launch globally on July 8 and will last until August 10. This will be the opening chapter of the Ruination event series. Riot Games is expected to extend the Ruination over three months, and the continuation of the Sentinels of Light event will introduce the next new champion: the grumpy Yordle mage named Norra.
