In the match between Victory Five and Suning during the group stage of the 2021 LPL Summer Split, player Pzx from V5 made a rare mistake by forgetting to bring the summoner spell Smite in the first game.
Pzx’s mistake directly led to V5’s defeat against SN in this game. Both the player and the team V5 have raised significant concerns regarding negative issues in competition.

To reassure the public, V5’s management immediately issued a statement indicating that they would investigate the incident after the match concluded. Recently, the internal investigation results from V5 have been announced. Accordingly, Pzx indeed “accidentally” forgot to adjust his summoner spell setup, as he had left the Teleport spell to create a solo match with teammates while waiting to set up the game.
However, he then forgot to switch back to his previous summoner spell setup and had to jungle without Smite. V5 has imposed a penalty for Pzx’s carelessness, which includes: a one-month salary deduction and internal reprimand. Pzx himself has also posted a message apologizing to the team and fans.

A year ago, Yan “Wei” Yang-Wei – the jungler for eStar, also made a similar mistake by not bringing the summoner spell Smite during a match in the LPL Summer Split 2020, and also received a one-month salary deduction as punishment.
This is truly a rare incident, arising from the overconfidence and carelessness of players as they enter the match preparation phase. As for V5, the team currently has not secured any wins in the 2021 LPL Summer Split, having lost all 13 matches played so far.
