Everyone knows that League of Legends (LOL) and DOTA (DOTA 2) are sworn enemies, but over time, the communities of these two games have grown tired of endless bickering and have chosen to live by the mantra of “live and let live.”
However, fate had other plans, and it seems like foes will meet again. Recently, Rita – one of the female hosts known as one of the “Four Great Beauties of LPL” and a dream crush for countless LOL gamers in China, participated in an online dating show.
The blind date was with Xu Ceng Gan – a young entrepreneur who has recently become a sensation on the Internet, continuously revealing his impressive business achievements and lavish lifestyle on social media.
Not only is he “rich beyond measure”, but Xu Ceng Gan is also a tall and handsome young businessman, embodying all the traits of a “dream guy” that women adore, at least in terms of looks. Rita herself is certainly not lacking in competition, with her beauty being quite remarkable and her name being a household one in the Chinese Esports scene.
Everyone thought this handsome couple would be a perfect match, and surely this dating show would lead to a successful pairing. However, a surprise occurred when Rita introduced her profession and casually asked her date if he liked playing LOL; Xu Ceng Gan coldly replied:
“I only play DOTA, I don’t like LOL, and nobody around me is interested in that game.”
Xu Ceng Gan’s blunt response left Rita speechless, and she was left only with the option to change the subject to random topics unrelated to gaming to ease the awkward atmosphere.
Not stopping there, Xu Ceng Gan concluded the blind date by asserting that he was not interested in a long-term relationship with Rita; they could get to know each other, but he had to make it clear that he was not interested in her. Many comments defended Rita, arguing that Xu Ceng Gan was excessively rude and arrogant in his behavior. Meanwhile, numerous comments asserted that the young entrepreneur was simply being honest, and it was Rita’s weakness that led to such a reaction.
Ultimately, the already strained relationship between the LOL and DOTA communities in China does not seem to have a chance for reconciliation or improvement after this incident.
