Vanguard
To say that the TFT Worlds Qualifiers: Reckoning North America is the playground of the Vanguard trait would not be an exaggeration. For instance, on the second day of this tournament, compositions revolving around Vanguard champions secured 1st place twice after just 6 games. It is not uncommon to see 2-3 players using Lucian and Akshan as their main carries in the TFT Worlds Qualifiers: Reckoning North America.

The terrifying aspect of the Vanguard composition in tournaments is that it allows players to “pivot” to various items while still ensuring damage output. For Lucian, besides pure AD items, this champion can hold items like Giant Slayer and Guardian Angel without any reduction in damage. In the late game, you can easily buy Akshan to supplement damage and add another strong carry to the Vanguard composition.

Kayle and Friends
It seems that the stat buff for Kayle in patch 11.17 released by Riot Games was too significant, making this champion much stronger. With the characteristic of damage output not depending on traits or classes, Kayle can become a carry in many different compositions as long as she is protected. For professional players, they have ample experience in “pivoting” their compositions, so teams centered around Kayle are an excellent choice in the late game.

The most basic way to play around Kayle is to combine her with Knights to ensure a strong frontline. You can also use this unit in a 6 Celestial composition as a means to supplement damage for Vel’Koz. Or, as player Robinsongz did, he chose Mystic units to protect Kayle when there were many magic carry champions in the game. In summary, no matter what composition you choose, as long as you can protect Kayle to deal damage, you’re already in a position to win.

Jax – Knight
With the rise of the Vanguard composition, the Jax – Knight team has unintentionally become a very strong counter. One characteristic of the Jax – Knight composition is the use of many melee champions with high health stats. Additionally, when both the Knight and Armored traits are activated, it provides incredible durability for the entire team. This makes it very difficult for the Vanguard carry – Lucian to take down the entire enemy team with just 1 or 2 rounds of Execution.

Not stopping there, due to the nature of melee carries, Jax always tends to rush in to attack the nearest enemy champion. Meanwhile, Lucian always casts his spells targeting the farthest opponent. Therefore, when you use Jax as your carry against a Vanguard team, the likelihood of this unit getting hit by Lucian’s Execution is relatively low. This allows Jax to stay in combat much longer to deal damage and take down the enemy team.
