In League of Legends, the Staff of the Angel (upgraded to the Archangel Staff) is always considered a key item for champions that deal magic damage and have a playstyle focused on continuously spamming abilities.
Of course, not every magic damage champion can utilize this item. With stats that directly contribute to energy and using that additional energy to amplify the owner’s power, only champions that use mana can fully optimize the strength this item provides.

However, recently, a gamer with the nickname IngusRogeth was curious and discovered an interesting relationship between the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff when using them on champions that do not use mana, but instead rely on other resource consumption forms (like Rengar’s Fury, Sett’s stacking ability points, Kled, etc.).
According to the game’s theory, the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff will only add energy points for the user; if the champion does not use energy, then the additional 500 energy (860 when upgraded) and the corresponding magic power increase of 3% of the maximum energy (5% when upgraded) would be completely useless.
But when experimenting with certain champions that do not use energy, IngusRogeth found that the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff still increases the consumption resource limit for these champions.
Testing on Rengar, IngusRogeth showed that purchasing the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff helped increase Rengar’s Fury stack from the champion’s passive to 5 stacks instead of just 4 as before. Similarly, Kled’s Courage point limit would also increase.
IngusRogeth’s experiments led him to conclude that the interaction between Rengar and the Archangel Staff is the most interesting, as it results in an issue he is quite sure is a game bug. When Rengar uses an ability while stacking 4 points of Fury, an additional point of Fury is added.
The problem is that League of Legends’ system only recognizes that Rengar can stack a maximum of 4 Fury, which leads to Rengar being able to use abilities continuously without cooldown until the Fury points reach the actual maximum (5 points).
Rengar is a case that can exploit the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff in a “special” way. But for Kled, this item brings a critical “nerf” because it increases the Courage stacking limit, which means that the time to summon Skaarl is also slightly longer. There is absolutely no benefit for him.
Another test was applied on Tryndamere, Shyvana, and Renekton – three champions that share the commonality of using “Rage”. In the case of these three champions, the maximum Rage increased from 100 to 126. The accumulation time is longer, but the effect duration is also longer. Generally, it’s a “break-even” situation.
More specific cases like Garen or Katarina, who do not use any consumption resources, of course, do not have this interaction. Additionally, IngusRogeth also emphasizes that building the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff for the aforementioned champions, even Rengar, although it seems interesting, is not effective or practical.
The first reason, as mentioned, is that these champions would completely waste the energy and the magic power increase based on the maximum energy percentage, something that a point of Fury or an additional 26 Rage points certainly cannot compensate.
Secondly, even for magic damage champions like Shyvana or Rumble, the Staff of the Angel/Archangel Staff would also be useless, as they can only utilize the additional magic power stat. As for physical damage champions, there’s no need to say; this is no longer the age of Tryndamere going AP; be careful not only to feed but also to receive a few reports for trolling the game.
In conclusion, this is simply a test for fun, lacking practicality, and should not be tried unless you are at least a Challenger level but just gating Diamond I.
