Claiming to Easily Beat T1 at Worlds 2021, Perkz Faces Backlash: “Do You Want to Lose 0-6 or What?”

Even Mikyx, who is currently queueing with Perkz, couldn't believe he said that facing T1 would be an "easy win."

Yesterday – September 7, Cloud9’s mid-laner, Perkz, surprisingly returned to livestream after about two weeks of absence. During this stream, Perkz shared some extremely noteworthy insights about teams at Worlds 2021, especially T1 and Fnatic.

Perkz: “I believe the gap between the number one and number two seeds from Korea is very large. Therefore, if possible, my dream opponents in the group stage of Worlds 2021 would be EDward Gaming, Fnatic, or T1, Gen.G. For me, Fnatic is definitely a team I can easily defeat. I’m quite sure T1 is also a team I can ‘easily win’ against. This year, aside from DWG KIA, the other Korean teams aren’t very scary.”

Even Mikyx, who is currently queueing with Perkz, couldn't believe he said that facing T1 would be an 'easy win.'

Right after this “early boast” video from Perkz was widely shared, it immediately caught the attention of the League of Legends community. In fact, in the aforementioned video, Mikyx, who was playing ranked with Perkz, also seemed incredulous when this guy said that T1 was a team that could be “easily beaten.” Many people believe that Perkz is being overly confident in himself even though he hasn’t had a successful season in the LCS.

Perkz seems to have forgotten that he has also had to pay the price in North America for such predictions.

Does he want the hardest group to go home earlier and sleep in a room filled with money?

Wait, does Perkz really want to experience losing 0-6?

Oh wow, he’s talking about a group where he would lose 0-6.

Let’s see if Cloud9 can make it past the group stage.

Facing Fnatic is an easy win? Perkz, buddy, you’re at Cloud9, not G2 Esports.

He doesn’t seem to consider that he might not even make it through the Play-In stage.

Perkz: “Facing Fnatic and T1 is an easy win.”

Everyone’s like: “What the heck?”.

Even Perkz's viewers during the livestream believe he would lose 0-6 if he really ended up in such a group.

Indeed, when looking back at Perkz’s performance in Cloud9 colors, we do not see a “superstar carrying the team” as many had hoped. In terms of damage statistics at the 2021 LCS Championship Summer, Perkz only ranked average compared to other mid-laners. Even in metrics like gold difference, experience, and CS at 15 minutes compared to opponents, Perkz did not show himself to be dominant in the laning phase.

The damage and lane performance statistics of Perkz at the 2021 LCS Championship Summer are quite disappointing.

Therefore, Perkz’s “early boasting” remarks are not convincing to the League of Legends community, which is why he faced such backlash. If Perkz continues to play as he did at the 2021 LCS Championship Summer, just making it past the Play-In stage of Worlds 2021 will be a challenging task, let alone facing Fnatic and T1 in the group stage.

Perkz and Cloud9 need to get through the Play-In stage before thinking about their opponents in the group stage of Worlds 2021.
