Just a few hours ago, Minas – a player from the League of Legends: Wild Rift team SBTC Esports – was officially sentenced to a global ban by Riot. According to Riot’s announcement, player Minas was involved in betting and gambling activities.

Thus, within just one season of 2021, the Vietnamese Esports scene has witnessed two cases of global bans. The first was Zeros, following his controversial remarks regarding the sensitive issue of the Covid-19 pandemic, and now Minas. Notably, Zeros is the biological brother of Minas. Both are the first cases to receive global bans in the history of Vietnamese esports.

Right after his brother received the penalty, former SE player Zeros posted a status on his personal page saying: “Always brothers.” This can be seen as a comforting gesture towards his brother, who has had to end his career while achieving numerous successes with the SE Wild Rift team. Minas was the key player for the top lane of the SE Wild Rift team, contributing to their three championship titles (two titles from the Icon Series SEA 2021 (Summer and Fall) and one title from the SEA Championship 2021).

However, looking at the comments below Zeros’ status, it’s filled with netizens’ “roasting” remarks. This is somewhat understandable, as within just one year, the Zeros brothers have put their team in a very difficult position due to their highly unprofessional behavior.

In any case, the punishment for Minas has been issued, and everything is already too late. This is certainly a valuable lesson for Minas in particular and all professional players in general to keep themselves in check against the temptations of gambling.
