In the current patch 11.24, it is easy to see that the Kai’Sa – Mystic composition is completely dominating the meta. This composition is too well-rounded, with many strengths and very few weaknesses, making it common for everyone to lean towards Kai’Sa. This meta has become so unbearable that even the top players in Teamfight Tactics have voiced their complaints in recent days.

As a high-ranked player, Teamfight Tactics Design Lead – Riot Mortdog could not overlook this situation. Therefore, in the latest video introducing update 12.1, Riot Mortdog announced a series of nerfs targeting the Kai’Sa – Mystic team. Essentially, the Mystic system will receive a light nerf, while Kai’Sa will face a significantly heavy nerf.

This nerf is undoubtedly necessary as Kai’Sa proves to be a carry unit with too few weaknesses and can carry the team regardless of the team composition used. The reduction in base damage from skills will force players to use Kai’Sa in a Challenger team to compensate for the damage nerf mentioned in patch 12.1. This has made the Teamfight Tactics community extremely happy, sending their thanks to Riot Mortdog for such accurate adjustments.

Not only the Kai’Sa composition, but the Chemtech team also has to face a significant nerf. First, Urgot’s interaction with Statikk Shiv has been reduced so that every third shot from the new skill is counted as a basic attack instead of two as before. Next, the damage reduction from the Chemtech trait has been decreased, but the additional attack speed at higher thresholds will be increased. This will make the Chemtech team considerably weaker in the early and mid-game.
