League of Legends currently has over 150 champions, including the recently launched Zeri. With such a vast number of champions, Riot has to “squeeze their brains” to come up with fitting backstories and origins for each name. Therefore, it’s no surprise that alongside traditional warrior-like champions (Garen, Jarvan IV…), LoL also features champions with very unique backgrounds.

For example, players have a champion who is a singer named Seraphine. Riot even invested to the extent of building a main storyline to turn her into a true idol. She has everything an idol should have: debut performances with a music group, a social media account… Riot even created a cinematic universe to serve as a foundation for new characters that have, are, and will be introduced into LoL. Or take the case of Silco, a character from Arcane, who will appear in TFT before “transitioning” into LoL like other champions.

Recently, Riot teased another new champion set to “land” in LoL and will also appear in TFT season 6.5 like Silco. This new champion is named Renata Glasc. Notably, she also hails from Zaun and transforms the Zaun – Piltover region into a hotspot for champions in LoL, surpassing even Demacia and Ionia. Not to mention, there are cases related to these two cities or altered by the negative aspects of this area (like Urgot).

Especially, instead of being a battle champion or a singer, Riot introduces the new champion Renata as a real CEO, managing an entire corporation in Zaun – Piltover. This champion’s Glasc Corporation provides high-end perfumes, self-defense tools, and enhanced prosthetics. Not only products for the wealthy, but the Glasc Corporation also offers items for the common class, catering to not only the elite but also those living in the dark corners of Zaun or anywhere in Runeterra. Riot even went so far as to create a website introducing the Glasc Corporation.

With the information revealed by Riot, it’s quite possible that champions like Camille or Orianna, and even those living in the depths of Zaun like Singed or Twitch might have done business with Renata. Many opinions also predict that, with a storyline centered around a supplier of equipment, Renata’s skill set will likely follow a similar trend.
Currently, Renata has only been “teased” and it’s unclear whether she will appear in LoL first or in TFT first. But either way, this champion will undoubtedly be an extremely intriguing name and another testament that while Riot may struggle with game balance, their creativity in storytelling has never diminished.
