However, recently, the marksman Gumayusi revealed a story that even the most devoted fans of T1 or Faker would be surprised by. It turns out that Gumayusi and Faker are not just teammates or senior-junior, but they are actually relatives. In fact, Gumayusi has to call Faker “uncle” if we consider the family hierarchy correctly.
“During the recent Lunar New Year, I discovered a shocking truth. When I saw my family looking at a family tree, I noticed a familiar name, Lee Sang-hyeok (Faker’s real name). When I asked, it turned out that this Lee Sang-hyeok is my teammate’s older brother. And my brother is actually a peer to my father. So, technically, I should call Faker ‘uncle’.” – Gumayusi shared on his stream.
Gumayusi is from the 40th generation, so his name is Lee Min-hyeong – with the character “hyeong”, while Faker is from the 39th generation, so his name is Lee Sang-hyeok, with the character “Sang”. Moreover, Faker’s middle name is the same as Gumayusi’s father’s, which is also Lee Sang-xxx. Immediately after discovering this shocking truth, Gumayusi quickly contacted his precious older brother on KaKaoTalk, and Faker also promised to visit Gumayusi’s home during Chuseok in the future.
It turns out that, after all, Gumayusi’s nickname “Prince” is not just for fun as he is indeed related to “Chairman” Faker and they are quite close and not distant relatives.
