Innovators
It seems that the title “king of all compositions” for Innovators is still incredibly accurate as this team comp proves to be very strong in both physical and magic damage capabilities. While in the previous patch you could use various carries from Draven, Kha’Zix to Irelia, in patch 12.4, the recommendation is for players to use magic carries with the Innovator team. This is because Riot nerfed the bonus AD from the Gadgeteen effect, which has significantly weakened physical carries.

Instead, more “classic” playstyles like Seraphine as a magic carry or stacking items for Vi are currently more effective options. Of course, if you have multiple B.F. Sword items, you can definitely give them to Ezreal or Senna to increase the annoyance of this composition. A neat trick is that if you combine Giant Slayer for Senna, the enhanced damage from this item will apply to low-health targets behind the enemy frontline.
Gang – Marksman
Basically, the Gang – Marksman composition in Teamfight Tactics depends on two main carries in the backline, Ashe and Jhin, who are champions that do not have high attack speed. Therefore, when facing the tanky champions of the Renata – Brawler composition, they will struggle quite a bit to take down the enemy team. With this composition being nerfed across the board in patch 12.4b, Ashe and Jhin will no longer have to face them as frequently, and their damage output will be much better.

However, this composition has a critical weakness as it heavily relies on having B.F. Sword items to build successfully. You need at least 4 B.F. Swords to combine into Infinity Edge and Giant Slayer for both Ashe and Jhin to maximize their damage output. This is extremely difficult as B.F. Sword has always been a highly contested item in the shared draft rounds. Therefore, you should only pursue this team comp if you are truly lucky with items and can level Ashe to 2 stars early.
Assassins
With the removal of Shaco and Akali in season 6.5 and only receiving 1-cost units (though very strong early game) like Nocturne, the late-game power of the Assassin team has diminished significantly. Coupled with the fact that the super tanky and high-damage composition like Renata – Brawler dominates the meta, the Assassin team struggles to shine. Therefore, as strong Brawler units like Rek’Sai and Sejuani get nerfed, the Assassin team also becomes much stronger in the early game, when the carries are not yet at the required levels and items.

Currently, the Assassin team typically has 2 variants depending on whether you use Twitch or Talon as the carry, depending on which champion you can level to 3 stars first. The Twitch reroll composition is rated slightly higher as you can combine it with Innovators, a very strong composition at this time. Meanwhile, the Talon reroll seems more “hit or miss” as you need this unit to be in VIP form and fully equipped with items to effectively “carry the team”.
