Gumayusi “responds” to a previous statement from Chovy
A short while ago, after the LCK 2025 finals concluded, Gen.G players had the opportunity to share their thoughts about the upcoming Worlds 2025. Notably, Chovy’s statement caught attention when he mentioned that he “wants to face IG”. This remark, in another context, might not have been significant. However, at Worlds 2025, IG is the opponent of T1, and if Chovy’s wish comes true, T1 would have to be eliminated. Recently, Gumayusi has voiced his “response” to the familiar rival across the battlefield.
Accordingly, Gumayusi was asked about his thoughts on Chovy’s statement of “wanting to clash with IG”. The T1 marksman responded gently: “Of course, Chovy’s statement is completely understandable. But unfortunately for Chovy, that may not happen. We want to give our fans the best performance at this Worlds.”
In fact, Gumayusi and T1’s performance is quite concerning
In the final phase of the domestic league, as well as the playoffs, T1 and Gumayusi himself unexpectedly returned to a fluctuating performance. Each of their matches has been incredibly challenging. Therefore, despite being rated higher than IG, T1 fans cannot afford to be complacent. This team has also suffered a detrimental loss to a lower-rated opponent, KT, thus losing control over their second-place position in the LCK Rounds 3-5, leading to a series of subsequent consequences.
Therefore, every T1 player, not just Gumayusi, needs to regain their highest possible form. Every match they play is important and can directly affect the results going forward. In particular, they need to achieve their peak performance right in the match against IG if they don’t want their journey to end too soon.
