Recently, the fanpage of VTV24 News Center posted a news article related to a fight that attracted the attention of the LoL community. Specifically, the page used an image of the shadow of “The Ruined King” Viego to illustrate the news. Many LoL fans were thrilled, and this post garnered massive interaction at that time for the VTV24 News Center page.

However, later on, in a clarification article about the fight, this fanpage continued to use an image of another LoL champion, Yasuo, to illustrate their write-up. Even though the image only showed the shadow with the hairstyle and physique of “The God,” it was unmistakable. Similar to the previous article about Viego, the post featuring Yasuo also attracted significantly more interaction compared to other posts.

Most comments under the posts were from the LoL community, with some users even teasing that VTV24 has designed images of all LoL champions to be ready for news as needed. Indeed, prior to Viego and Yasuo, VTV24 had previously used Rengar to illustrate a Vietnamese language game show and Twisted Fate to illustrate news regarding “resisting law enforcement.” However, there were also opinions suggesting that the station was “teasing” the game as most of the news was sensitive and leaned towards criminal activities.

Perhaps, with the influence of LoL, the fact that the admins of this fanpage are “catching trends” to report in a more relatable manner to a wider audience is a way to increase the virality of news topics that are generally seen as quite boring and not very interesting to many people. Although not all LoL champions are used to illustrate positive news, the way the station communicates is definitely appreciated by readers, especially the LoL community.
