On the evening of April 12 (Vietnam time), Riot officially launched a new skin line called Solar Eclipse – Lunar Eclipse. Five champions will be included in this skin line, namely Aatrox and Senna (Lunar Eclipse), while Kayle, Sejuani, and Sivir will belong to the Solar Eclipse group. Additionally, this skin line is accompanied by 2 skins from the RPG game Ruined King developed by Riot following the Ruination event. The 2 champions with these skins are Gangplank (The Betrayer) and “The God” Yasuo (Spirit of the Water God).

Although the Solar Eclipse – Lunar Eclipse skin line features quite stunning graphics, it has sparked controversy within the League of Legends community. Specifically, while the skins for Aatrox and Kayle are considered quite cool, Senna’s skin has faced the most criticism. Many fans believe that Riot should have moved Senna’s skin to the Battle Queen universe because the design, colors, and splash art are all too similar to this skin line. Meanwhile, Sivir’s splash art has been criticized as quite… “basic”. Compared to a skin classified as legendary, the League of Legends community feels the splash art has a rather outdated design.

Additionally, there were some opinions suggesting that Riot’s release of the Solar Eclipse – Lunar Eclipse skin line without the inclusion of Diana, a champion closely associated with the Moon, is a significant oversight. Moreover, a champion closely tied to Diana’s lore, Kayle, being included in the Solar Eclipse group makes it more reasonable for Diana to be there instead of Sivir or Senna.

Nevertheless, some other skins are still highly regarded. Notably, the 2 skins from Ruined King have received positive feedback from netizens. These skins will be available to players in the upcoming 12.8 update.
