Remember back in the 2021 season when the champion Viego was released? Riot even launched a grand event, Ruination – Sentinel of Light, to introduce this champion. In fact, Riot didn’t limit the event to League of Legends; the entire Riot game universe had a presence of Ruination. Not to mention, Riot also created a cinematic and brought Ruination to real-life cities.

However, in the end, Ruination – Sentinel of Light faced severe backlash for its shallow content and character arcs from Riot. Later, the RPG title Ruined King was released, which temporarily calmed the League of Legends community. And Viego turned out to be a very troublesome champion for Riot, appearing with “unbearable” bugs repeatedly. With overwhelming power and numerous bugs, Viego is viewed as a “200 years of experience” but can be considered a rather failed design that sparked much controversy for Riot in the following times.
Recently, the League of Legends community continued to “throw stones” at Riot for this champion Viego. The reason is that it turns out, Viego has no voice lines when buying the item Ruined King’s Blade in the in-game shop, despite the fact that this item is actually taken from Viego’s own sword.

Notably, with the absence of any voice lines when buying the Ruined King’s Blade, Viego has even less interaction with this item than Yorick – a champion also from the Shadow Isles. Specifically, when Yorick purchases this item, the Maiden says, “Sword of a great man,” while Yorick sarcastically comments, “Sword of a fool.”

However, some opinions suggest that this is simply because Riot is no longer focused on designing voice lines for champions when interacting in the in-game shop. Nevertheless, since Viego is a special champion who has an item named after him in the game, some believe that Riot should make an exception. This would enhance players’ excitement when using this champion while also reflecting Riot’s investment in the “grand yet complete failure” of Viego’s launch last year.
