In League of Legends, and in other related game modes, serious bugs sometimes occur that can impact the outcome of matches. In fact, these bugs can arise during professional matches and often leave both spectators and players frustrated. Recently, another significant bug occurred during the LPL Summer 2022, specifically in the match between LNG Esports and LGD Gaming. This bug was related to a crucial element in League of Legends, namely the Rift Herald.

For those who regularly follow League of Legends, the importance of the Rift Herald in a match is likely well understood. It is one of the strongest buffs in the early game and can even serve as a crucial factor in helping a team secure an overall victory. The clashes around the Rift Herald area are often the first major fights of the match, eagerly anticipated by the audience.

However, during the match between LNG and LGD on the evening of July 2nd (Vietnam time), a very serious bug related to this buff occurred. Specifically, LNG obtained the Rift Herald buff and used it in the Bottom Lane. However, the Rift Herald did not attack towers as it normally would, instead behaving simply like a giant minion.
As soon as this bug appeared, the match was immediately paused for adjustments. But after quite a long time, it seemed that even Riot was at a loss. Thus, LNG was forced to accept continuing the match, essentially giving their opponents a Rift Herald buff.
This is a significant bug that affected LNG’s ability to establish dominance over their opponents. Fortunately, LNG went on to win the match. However, LGD is not a particularly strong opponent compared to LNG. Many spectators have raised concerns about how Riot would explain such a bug if it were to occur in matches against the powerhouse teams of the LPL like Royal Never Give Up, Victory Five, or Top Esports.

As of now, Riot has not released any further statements regarding the incident that occurred during the match between LNG and LGD. Many spectators and teams alike are likely to be worried if this bug were to appear again in their home matches.
