The Former MSI Champion May Be Preparing to Disband
As we know, in recent years, the Royal Never Give Up team has lost its former prominence. The former MSI champion has not only been absent from international tournaments but also lacks competition for titles domestically and has not introduced any outstanding players since the departure of the Xiaohu – Ming generation. To make matters worse, RNG has continually been embroiled in unfavorable news and lawsuits.
Recently, information has surfaced that RNG is indeed preparing to disband. Their slot in the LPL has even attracted interest from a team looking to purchase it. Notably, this season ended early for this team, and RNG will be “idle” until early 2026.

According to reports, it has circulated within the League of Legends community that RNG has disbanded or will temporarily cease operations. Additionally, Team Falcons is said to be looking to acquire RNG’s slot in the LPL. However, sources from the LPL have indicated that this deal may not be finalized. Furthermore, RNG is still entangled in several lawsuits, which will pose a significant obstacle if the team wishes to exit professional League of Legends.

A Sad Ending for the Former MSI Champion
In reality, in the Esports scene of the Chinese market, RNG has always been among the top teams with significant investment. Therefore, it is understandable that at some point, they would lose momentum, even potentially fall apart. Especially since the LCK has risen to dominance, the number of titles coming to the LPL has gradually decreased, and only MSI has been a tournament where the LPL has held some control. However, just MSI is not enough, and in reality, this tournament has only recently regained some value over the past couple of years, as Riot has offered more collaborations and benefits for the champion team.

Additionally, RNG has been viewed as a team that invests and stabilizes over many years – something that most current top teams in the LPL lack. Therefore, if RNG truly reaches the point of disbanding, it is an inevitable situation but also another sad story for the Chinese League of Legends, which has been considered the biggest rival to the LCK.
