If you have been following major League of Legends tournaments like LCK or LPL, you may have noticed that Bel’Veth is appearing more frequently lately. The greatest strength of this champion is her ability to snowball in team fights similar to Viego, transforming into her true form upon securing kills. Perhaps this is why Bel’Veth is being chosen as an alternative when Viego is banned.

However, the effectiveness of Bel’Veth is currently extremely low as during the LCK Summer 2022 tournament, the Void Empress only secured 1 win out of 4 picks. Even when asked about Bel’Veth, the young star of T1 – Oner bluntly pointed out that this is an incredibly bad champion and he will not use it in tournaments.
Question: Bel’Veth is appearing more at LCK but its effectiveness isn’t very high. What do you think about this champion?
T1 Oner: I think this is a terrible champion. Bel’Veth requires the entire team to play around her and understand how this champion operates. I think it’s very difficult for any team to do this. Even before being nerfed, Bel’Veth was already bad. After the nerf, this champion is even weaker, I don’t think I will use it in tournaments.

Not only in LCK, but in the LPL, Bel’Veth is also not highly regarded. Recently, Bel’Veth was only picked 3 times in LPL Summer 2022 with a record of 2 wins – 1 loss. However, those 2 victories came from dominant performances by JDG against “lower-tier” teams like LNG or WE. To put it bluntly, in such matches, no matter what champion Kanavi uses, JDG would still win.

The weakness that leads to Bel’Veth being rated low is that this champion is too dependent on items because when leveling up, she does not gain attack speed. As a result, Bel’Veth, in the first 10-15 minutes of the game, is only in the jungle to farm gold and cannot attack other areas. Meanwhile, the current dominant playstyle in tournaments is that the jungler will move early to create advantages for the carries, something that Bel’Veth is extremely poor at.
Therefore, in the near future, it will be difficult for Bel’Veth to appear in important matches. Perhaps we will have to wait until professional teams find the best way to use Bel’Veth effectively for the Void Empress to have a chance to shine.
