In the LCK Summer 2022, the situation remains largely unchanged compared to the previous Spring Split. Specifically, DWG KIA (DK), despite the return of Nuguri, still displays an unstable performance. Meanwhile, Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) and T1 continue to maintain their form from Spring 2022. Both of these names are turning the LCK Summer 2022 into a two-horse race where any mistake could provide an opportunity for the opponent to leap ahead.

But one fact remains: since the LCK Spring 2022, Gen.G has not managed to secure a victory against T1, even though Faker and his teammates have not consistently maintained good form. For this reason, T1 is viewed as the biggest obstacle, the most important opponent that Gen.G must defeat if they wish to dominate the LCK. However, this will certainly not be easy, especially when Faker and his teammates are also determined to secure this Summer LCK title.

At this moment, both teams are closely competing against each other on the LCK Summer 2022 standings. Although they both share a record of 10 wins – 1 loss in a total of 11 matches played, T1 is currently ranked behind Gen.G due to Faker and his teammates having 8 game losses, while Gen.G only has 6. However, this gap is extremely fragile, and just one loss is enough to pull a team behind their opponent.

For this reason, in a recent interview with InvenGlobal after their victory against Liiv SANDBOX (LSB), Gen.G’s Jungle player Peanut emphasized the importance of defeating T1: “The standings are always changing, but I don’t focus too much on it. No matter what happens, we must defeat T1 to protect our top position. Until we can defeat T1, the current rank 1 means nothing. But anyway, I’m happy that we won (LSB) 2-0.”

Peanut’s statement is more than enough to show that Gen.G players are aware of the thin margin between themselves and Faker’s team. However, Peanut and his teammates must perform at their best when facing T1 if they do not want the outcome of previous losses to repeat once again.
