After the first round of the Group Stage at the World Championship (CKTG) 2022, many surprising results have occurred. Among them, the intensity of Group A – which includes EDward Gaming, T1, Cloud9 (C9), and Fnatic (FNC) was predicted beforehand. However, the fact that 3 out of 4 teams here ended up with the same score after the first round was something no one expected. Especially when T1 even lost to FNC – an opponent considered much weaker.
After the first round, the LCS (North America) region has left many disappointments. All three teams, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses (EG), and 100Thieves (100T), have yet to secure a single victory. Among them, 100T even lost to a lesser-known team, CBTC Flying Oyster (CFO). Meanwhile, C9 and EG, both familiar names in international tournaments, are not performing any better, both in results and performance in the matches.
Sharing the same winless record after the first round of the Group Stage as the LCS teams is GAM Esports. The representative from VCS has returned to CKTG after many years of absence due to objective reasons. Having to face a tough group with the presence of TOP Esports (TES), Rogue (RGE), and DRX, GAM has not achieved good results.
As the captain and the most experienced member of GAM, the pressure on Levi is immense, especially when this is considered the strongest lineup of GAM in many years. Therefore, in a recent interview, Levi shared his thoughts on GAM’s journey at CKTG 2022 so far.
“I assure you that GAM is still doing its best to maintain its winning conditions. To be honest, if possible, I want to be like the character Captain Levi in Attack on Titan, who, along with the members of the Survey Corps, fought against the titan army. The teams in GAM’s group at CKTG 2022 are all very strong. I hope we can take down these giants and advance past the Group Stage.” – Levi shared.
In the battle between Levi and his teammates from the Survey Corps, there were many sacrifices and moments when everything seemed hopeless. But thanks to their relentless efforts, the battle ended with the titans being defeated.
GAM’s journey at CKTG 2022 is currently incredibly challenging, and they are indeed in a rather unfavorable situation.
