The Jungle role in League of Legends (LoL) is quite special, as it can impact all other players on the map. Therefore, balancing the jungle has always been a careful consideration for the publisher Riot Games. A mistake in this area could lead to significant upheaval in the game, affecting the experience of the global community.

Recently, Riot Games announced that: “they will increase the number of Jungle champions, including champions that have never been designed for this position”. Even, League of Legends designer Truexy shared about the Pre-Season 2023: “We think it would be exciting if many unconventional champions could go Jungle”. Therefore, the global community will soon experience changes in the jungle area.
Notably, Tim Jiang from the League of Legends design team shared information on TikTok about a different position. Specifically, he stated: “The Top Lane includes many champion groups: Marksmen, Bruisers, Tanks, and even Mages. In the Mid Lane, Marksmen, Mages, Bruisers, Assassins, Enchanters,… are all used. So why can’t the Jungle position have unique champion groups?”

He further explained: “As long as we are still active, there is no reason for the jungle area to be different from the other positions”. However, not every champion fits the Jungle role. Camille is a prime example; she has been used and dominated the Summoner’s Rift for a long time. A champion that can attack at level 2 after finishing Red Buff could lead to imbalance in the game.

Previously, unconventional champions have been tested in this unique position. Morgana, Rumble, Zed, and Talon are among the most notable names, performing quite effectively and being popular with players worldwide. Therefore, in addition to the pet feature, Riot Games promises to create many unique choices to introduce into the jungle in the upcoming Pre-Season.
Currently, dominant champions in the jungle area at many League of Legends tournaments include: Graves, Viego, Hecarim, and Sejuani. In ranked mode, the standout names include Bel’Veth, Fiddlesticks, and Olaf. They all lean towards melee combat and share many similarities in gameplay. That is why Riot Games wants to expand the champion pool for the Jungle role.

According to the announcement, the Pre-Season patch will be updated on November 16, allowing players to directly experience these exciting new changes. Additionally, old jungle items will be removed, making way for new features like pets. Therefore, the community will soon experience marksmen and mages in the Jungle role in the near future.
