League of Legends Launches New Anti-Cheat Feature, But the Community Shakes Their Heads

(Nation) - Riot Games seems to have made another questionable move regarding League of Legends.

Since the release of patch 13.8 for League of Legends, cheating by exploiting game bugs has become increasingly common. Specifically, League of Legends is facing issues with skill usage, items with no cooldown, and players having enormous gold amounts due to the rollback of the Shard of Glory. These issues have significantly degraded the gaming experience for League of Legends players in recent times.

On Riot Games’ side, they recently added a feature to League of Legends to somewhat reduce the aforementioned cheating issues. Essentially, League of Legends players now have the ability to report cheaters during the match. Furthermore, the reported player will be automatically muted, and players can update further on cheating behaviors. This feature has already been implemented in the game VALORANT.

This feature theoretically appears quite useful as League of Legends players can quickly report bad behavior instead of waiting until the end of the match. However, the League of Legends community believes that this feature will not be effective. The reason stems from the fact that League of Legends does not have an automatic match cancellation system to preserve ranked points like VALORANT.

“I understand the purpose of this new reporting feature, but Riot Games seems to forget that League of Legends is not VALORANT. This game does not have an automatic match cancellation system when a cheater is detected. It only makes the detection of cheaters a bit faster, while the players’ ranked points are still affected” – a player commented.

Indeed, Riot’s above feature only helps speed up the detection of cheaters compared to the current situation. Meanwhile, players still have to endure these cheaters until the end of the match, and there is no guarantee that their ranked points are preserved. Perhaps Riot Games should implement an automatic match cancellation system when cheaters are detected in League of Legends, similar to VALORANT, if they want to apply this feature effectively.
