In the LPL Summer 2023, Weibo Gaming (WBG) had a dream start by defeating the MSI champion – JD Gaming (JDG). This victory raised fans’ hopes that WBG was on a high streak and would continue to conquer their next opponents. This was further solidified when coach Daeny officially joined WBG shortly afterward.

However, the team Oh My God (OMG) brought WBG back to earth by defeating them with a score of 2-1 just a few days ago. Even WBG stars like TheShy and Xiaohu performed somewhat underwhelming compared to OMG players. According to coach Daeny, this defeat stemmed from WBG having too little time to prepare.
“I sincerely apologize to the fans for the disappointing loss to OMG. We had too little time to prepare and didn’t have enough strategic options to counter our opponents. OMG prepared extremely well against our movements. The whole team will find ways to improve our strategic depth in the future” – coach Daeny shared.

Fairly speaking, it’s understandable that coach Daeny did not have the best preparation. He faced issues entering the LPL region, leaving him with very little time to acclimatize to the environment and his new players. Moreover, the number of teams competing in the LPL is significantly higher than in the LCK, making opponent research considerably more challenging.

In summary, the recent defeat against OMG is a valuable lesson for the WBG collective in general and coach Daeny in particular. Hopefully, in the upcoming matches, this team will be better prepared if they wish to keep their hopes of qualifying for this year’s World Championship alive.
