After a disappointing defeat against Royal Never Give Up (RNG), EDward Gaming (EDG) has shown some signs of improvement. Specifically, they won their last 2 matches against Rare Atom (RA) and Ultra Prime (UP), preventing them from falling into the lower half of the rankings. It can be said that the opportunity to qualify for the LPL Summer 2023 is still wide open for EDG.

However, the way EDG defeated UP left fans somewhat dissatisfied. Particularly in the first match, Ale, FoFo, and Jiejie all made mistakes that led to unfortunate deaths. Furthermore, EDG fans believe that the coaching staff is making a significant mistake by not fully trusting Uzi.
“Even though EDG won, the way they played in game 1 against UP really bothered me. Why didn’t EDG trust Uzi and play around him in that match? Uzi is currently EDG’s best player and they need to make picks/bans that support him. Ale and FoFo have been underperforming lately; don’t let them play resource-heavy champions anymore,” a fan shared.

Indeed, when looking at EDG’s picks in game 1 against UP, fans will notice very little support for Uzi in the bot lane. EDG’s solo lanes in this game were Renekton and Tristana, both of which require a lot of resources. Even Jiejie with Elise did not have many interventions in Uzi’s lane. As a result, when EDG’s solo lanes lost their matchups, the team completely failed against UP.

Interestingly, with just a change in the jungle position when Jiejie used Sejuani to support Uzi, EDG immediately won the next 2 games. Perhaps EDG should continue to apply this style of play and trust Uzi more to secure additional victories in the future.
