For a long time, LCK has always had talented Marksmen who have made significant contributions to their teams’ titles, from domestic to international competitions. However, in recent years, these names have become less frequent. While the LPL continues to see promising new faces in the Marksman role, LCK has only Deft, Ruler, and more recently, Gumayusi and Aiming as outstanding players. With Ruler moving to the LPL, this number has decreased even further.

However, at the moment, one name is proving to be even better than Gumayusi or the former star Ruler. Peyz is rising to become the top Marksman in LCK right now. Specifically, in the Summer 2023 group stage, Peyz has accumulated 214 kills, the highest among all active Marksmen. In terms of KDA, Peyz may slightly lag behind Aiming due to having more deaths (1.46 compared to 1.08 per game) and fewer kill assists (4.17 compared to 5.31). However, Peyz’s average kills per game are significantly higher (6.11 compared to 5.81).

Additionally, as of July 30 (Vietnam time), Peyz has achieved 500 kills, an impressive number for a rookie who joined LCK just 7 months ago, starting from Spring 2023. Even more noteworthy is that Ruler – regarded as the best Korean Marksman currently – took 5 years to reach 1,422 kills. In a broader context, Faker – currently leading in kills in LCK – also took over 8 years to hit 2,203 kills.

On average, if he maintains his current performance, Peyz will only need about 3 years to match Faker’s current achievements and surpass Ruler. While it’s known that Peyz receives a lot of support from his teammates, his talent is undeniable. Perhaps, he is not just replacing Ruler but is truly building a brand, a legacy for himself at Gen.G, as well as in LCK and the global League of Legends scene.
