As the tournaments are nearing their end, the League of Legends community is turning its attention to the new champion Briar. From the moment the first information was released, to the splash art launch, and recently, the teaser along with skill reveals, Briar has captured everyone’s attention. Moreover, she has become a controversial topic on many forums due to her somewhat loli anime-inspired design. Therefore, it can be said that every “move” Briar makes is now a subject of discussion.

One of the points of contention is Briar’s interactions with champions from League of Legends, which Riot revealed on August 31 (Vietnam time). However, instead of having rich dialogue, especially when encountering champions from Noxus, Briar is reported to only interact with 3 champions: Sion, Talon, and Vladimir. This has left many players feeling extremely disappointed, especially since they had been hoping for a truly captivating storyline for Briar – the new champion (possibly) to be released at the end of 2023. Especially since Naafiri’s storyline has become chaotic and has led to continuous criticism of Riot.
In the League of Legends community on Reddit, one user candidly stated: “League of Legends is truly dying. I remember back in the day when champions would even interact with items. Just look now, even Samira’s Ultimate skin is far inferior to some lower-cost Legendary skins. They are gradually removing many features, like Naafiri having no interactions with Shurima champions, but Briar only interacting with 3 champions is just insane. If you don’t think that’s a prime example, just look at Aatrox’s dialogue to understand.”

This opinion has garnered over 2.9k upvotes and many comments expressing agreement. Some even find it perplexing why a Briar with a “crazy” vibe (like Jinx) has no interactions with champions from the Black Rose guild (like LeBlanc), despite being the one who used Briar for experimentation. Some comments jokingly suggested that perhaps there are so many bugs with Briar that Riot forgot to write dialogue for her.

Regardless of the reason, Briar’s storyline must serve as Riot’s appropriate explanation. Because just launching a new champion is not enough. League of Legends players genuinely hope that Riot will invest more time and effort into their game, which still remains their “cash cow” and deserves the community’s attention.
