This season, Dplus KIA (DK) has experienced quite a few ups and downs during their competition. The team was eliminated early in the Spring LCK qualifiers and Summer this year, receiving mixed reviews. However, ShowMaker and his teammates made a remarkable comeback in the regional qualifiers to secure a ticket to the World Championship (Worlds) 2023.

Therefore, it can be said that Worlds 2023 is a great opportunity for DK and ShowMaker to regain their reputation after a season filled with ups and downs. The DK players likely understand this, so they appear extremely determined to perform well in the upcoming Worlds 2023.
However, even before Worlds 2023 takes place, DK fans have received disappointing news as they could lose their biggest star – ShowMaker. Specifically, the EDward Gaming (EDG) team from LPL is reportedly closely monitoring DK’s star. In fact, the former manager of EDG mentioned that ShowMaker is a key factor in rebuilding this team.

Essentially, EDG is planning to rebuild its roster with the immediate goal of recruiting ShowMaker and Viper for next season. If they cannot convince Viper, they will switch to using Leave in the AD Carry position and replace the Top Lane with Kiin. Regardless of the approach, ShowMaker remains the focal point of this “new” EDG project.

Of course, this is still just a transfer plan from EDG. Whether ShowMaker agrees to go abroad or not is still too early to confirm since Worlds 2023 has not yet taken place. Everything can change rapidly based on DK’s performance in the upcoming major tournament.
Fairly speaking, moving to LPL is also an option that ShowMaker might consider for the future. Ruler is a prime example of achieving success after moving to the LPL environment for DK’s star to learn from. Who knows, moving to EDG could help ShowMaker shine and gain additional titles.
