In the world of League of Legends, there have always been exceptionally unique players. If a player is ordinary, or even an outstanding player, they typically strive to practice and master about 3 to 5 champions that represent their personal style (signature). These champions are often seen as embodiments of these players in the global LoL scene, such as Uzi’s Vayne, TheShy’s Aatrox, or Faker’s Ryze.

However, truly exceptional players rarely have any champion that is distinctly their “signature”. These players often fall into two categories: one is capable of playing many champions but only at a competent level, or the superior category where they have an extensive champion pool and can maximize the potential of each champion they play. Players in this category include Keria, Faker, and in this case, “Sir” BeryL.

Speaking of BeryL, it’s fair to say that the Support player of DRX is truly a rare “genius” in the world of LoL. Before he joined DRX, this team had become quite weak after parting ways with Chovy and nearly overhauling the entire roster. However, with BeryL and the rise of players like Zeka, Kingen, and Deft, DRX made a “miraculous journey” at Worlds 2022. It’s worth noting that BeryL has almost never shown a love for LoL. Whenever he’s not practicing or competing, he can be seen dedicating his time and resources to games like Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail 3rd.

Recently, according to statistics, BeryL is the player who has used the most champions in the history of Worlds. He set a record by using 12 champions at Worlds 2021 – the last season he played for Damwon Gaming. Subsequently, at Worlds 2022, he was still the player who used the most champions (11 champions) but fewer than he did in the previous Worlds.

For those who may not know, only two players are close to BeryL’s number, namely Faker (Worlds 2019 – 10 champions) and Knight (Worlds 2020 – 10 champions). However, given the current meta increasingly limits the number of viable champions, along with the critical nature of each match, it will be very challenging to find unconventional choices. This is even more unlikely since both Faker and Knight play crucial roles in their teams’ gameplay compared to BeryL’s Support position.

With BeryL absent from Worlds 2023, he certainly won’t set any more records. However, both Faker and Knight, or anyone else, will find it very difficult to reach, let alone break the record of “Sir” BeryL.
