Although they failed to win the championship at Worlds 2023, JD Gaming (JDG) still achieved considerable success in the past season. They won the LPL Spring and Summer titles as well as the prestigious MSI 2023 title. A significant contributor to these glorious victories is the star Ruler in the AD Carry position, who has always been a crucial pillar of the JDG lineup.

Even at Worlds 2023, JDG nearly faced elimination in the quarterfinals when KT Rolster performed exceptionally well in game 4. If it weren’t for Ruler’s “star moment” to close out the match, JDG could have very well lost, potentially being eliminated right from the quarterfinals. Therefore, as soon as rumors of Ruler re-signing with JDG emerged, fans of the team expressed tremendous joy.

However, Ruler recently made some surprising revelations about his future. Specifically, Ruler shared: “In fact, I haven’t re-signed with JDG yet. I am not currently part of any team and don’t know what I will do next year. Returning to LCK? That’s also a possibility.”

With his reputation and level, Ruler will certainly want to join a strong team in LCK to have a chance to compete for titles. However, strong teams in LCK like T1, Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, KT Rolster, and Dplus KIA have all announced their AD Carry positions. Therefore, Ruler returning to LCK for the next season seems quite unlikely.

Meanwhile, Ruler seems to have more options in LPL as the transfer market is still active. Teams like EDward Gaming, Weibo Gaming, and LNG Esports have yet to finalize their AD Carry personnel. In fact, re-signing with JDG could also be a reasonable move for this star.

Hopefully, in the near future, Ruler will soon find the most suitable destination for himself. It would be a pity if an outstanding AD Carry like Ruler chose to take a break from competing in the upcoming 2024 season.
