After the official conclusion of the 2023 season, GAM Esports has made significant reforms to its lineup. In fact, this was something that could have been anticipated as GAM has not yet had a proper head coach on the bench. Meanwhile, the emergency options for GAM have completed their missions (Slayder and Palette). However, with the acquisition of some of the top names in the VCS in their respective positions, the dissolution of GAM’s lineup has raised a question among fans: who will be capable of filling the vacant positions?

Recently, GAM announced the first two names that will be rookies in the lineup for the reigning VCS champions in Spring 2024. Accordingly, as many had predicted, GAM welcomed back Elio. This time, he will be paired with Pyshiro in the Bot Lane. For GAM, Elio is no longer a rookie as he previously donned the yellow and black colors for a short period. Meanwhile, Pyshiro is currently a standout young player in the VCS.

However, for many fans, these may be seen as two relatively weak choices for GAM compared to their own past and in comparison to GAM’s current opponents. Pyshiro will likely struggle to compete on equal footing with an experienced AD Carry like Shogun, not to mention a more seasoned name like Artemis. On the other hand, Elio did not demonstrate much during his previous stint with GAM. In fact, many opinions suggest that GAM is essentially “handicapping” themselves for the upcoming year with the current roster.

Moreover, GAM has yet to provide any information regarding the Mid Lane position left vacant by Kati. According to many expert opinions as well as VCS viewers, Kati was even more critical than the new Bot Lane duo given that GAM’s playstyle focuses on the top side. Having a Mid Laner who synergizes well with Levi is crucial for this playstyle to function effectively. Furthermore, aside from Kati, it seems that no one in the current VCS can match Gloryy’s skill or experience.

But nevertheless, GAM must have made careful considerations. If a team wants to develop, change is inevitable. And only when the season begins will the audience have the most complete view of whether GAM’s changes prove effective or not.
